Chamomile is an herb that has a long history of being used to induce sleep or relaxation. The herb has also been used by diabetics to help prevent complications such as nerve damage. Chamomile contains the bioflavonoid apigenin, which has been tested as an inhibitor of pancreatic cancer cell growth.

Chamomile's mild, pleasant flavor makes it a popular substitute for caffeine-containing teas, such as black tea, that promote wakefulness.
