Are parasites the underlying cause of your chronic health problems? Parasites are far more common than you think and not only in underdeveloped countries since they can hide in nutritious food such as yogurt, meat, fruit and vegetables.

Parasites survive by hijacking your body, robbing you of nutrients and leaving behind toxic waste which can ignite an inflammatory cascade, thereby weakening your immune system.

Because parasites come in so many different shapes and sizes, they can cause a variety of digestive symptoms including unexplained constipation, diarrhea, gas or other symptoms of IBD/IBS. But not all parasitic infections manifest as GI symptoms.  Skin irritations or unexplained rashes, mood changes, chronic fatigue, iron-deficiency, aching muscles, irritability and even insomnia can also be caused by parasites.

This test involves the collection of one stool sample. The laboratory will perform a microscopic exam of the feces to detect ova and parasites as well as laboratory antigen testing for the detection of Giardia and Cryptosporidium.

The following documents provide a full set of instructions and the contents of the lab kit for completing the test:

Instructions       Sample Report

Note: Results take 7-10 days from the time the laboratory receives your sample. This test is not available in Pennsylvania. The results for this test are not available online.

Special Note: One negative result does not rule out the possibility of parasitic infection. Repeat testing may be necessary.
