Prostate-specific Antigen (PSA), Ultrasensitive
Prostate specific antigen (PSA) is produced exclusively by cells of the prostate gland. Used in conjunction with the digital rectal examination, PSA is a useful screening test for benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH) and prostate cancer development.
Fasting is not required for this test. Take all medications as prescribed.
Ejaculation within 48 hours preceding the blood draw may elevate the PSA in some men. This ultrasensitive PSA test is intended for use as an aid in the management of men following surgical or medical treatment for prostate cancer. The test has a reference interval of 0.000-4.000 ng/mL.
