Fatal Heart Disease in People Consuming Excess Sugar

The February 3, 2014 edition of the Journal of the American Medical Association reported on the largest study of its kind in medical history.

The findings revealed that adults who consumed the most sugar had an almost three times greater risk of dying prematurely from heart disease.

This report emanating from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention helps corroborate our decades-long warning about the lethal vascular impact of after-meal glucose spikes.

This study showed it does not take much in the way of "added sugars" to increase fatal heart problems. Just daily consumption of a sugary roll, soda, and ice cream placed adults at a 2.75-fold greater cardiac risk!

How to Avoid Becoming Another Statistic

The number of studies linking elevated blood glucose with higher rates of virtually every disease is staggering. Over the past three years alone, we've graphically warned of the dangers of glucose overload on four of our Life Extension Magazine® covers.

We've begged our members for more than 30 years to keep their blood glucose levels in the low range of normal. The evidence is now beyond conclusive that those seeking to avoid the miseries of heart failure need to cut their daily added sugar intake to less than 10% of total calories.

Unfortunately, it does not take much to over-consume sugar as many foods (such as salad dressings and pasta sauces) often contain added sugar. Anyone who has a sweet tooth will almost automatically fall into the highest-risk heart attack category.

What if You Can't Cut Back on Sugar

For those who have made sugar an inescapable part of their diet, there are proven ways to blunt the deadly after meal glucose surge. A prescription drug called acarbose inhibits the alpha-glucosidase enzyme that facilitates the absorption of glucose into the bloodstream. Results from seven long-term studies suggest acarbose may reduce heart attack risk by up to 64%.

For those who choose natural methods to impede the alpha-glucosidase enzyme, Tri Sugar Shield was introduced last month to enable people to take just one capsule before sugar or starch-containing meals/drinks.

Tri Sugar Shield™ functions via multiple mechanisms to protect delicate vasculature against the deadly impact of excess glucose. Some people will need only one capsule daily before a meal that contains sugars or starches. Others might need to take Tri Sugar Shield™ before several meals/snacks throughout the day.

The frightening findings published this week in the Journal of the American Medical Association prompted me to write this email to alert members to either:

  1. Reduce added sugar intake to less than 10% of total calories or;
  2. Take 50–100 mg of acarbose before sugar-starch meals or;
  3. Take one Tri Sugar Shield™ before sugar-starch meals.

Obviously it's best to restrict sugar and starch ingestion wherever possible. That means reading the label of processed foods/drinks and avoiding those that contain added sugars.

For those occasions when you ingest sugars or starches, the evidence is abundantly clear an effort should be made to reduce the arterial damage caused by after-meal glucose surges.

It is unfortunate that as health conscious people cut back on saturated fats and cholesterol-laden foods, they inadvertently created the same havoc in their bodies by consuming too much sugar (and starches).
