Human epididymis protein 4 (HE4) is produced by the majority of epithelial ovarian cancer cells and is used as a tumor biomarker in ovarian cancer patients. HE4 can also be elevated in other cancerous and noncancerous conditions.
| Human Epididymis Protein 4 (HE4) is used as an aid in monitoring recurrence of progressive disease in women with epithelial ovarian cancer. Combining Cancer Antigen 125 (CA 125) and HE4 provides a more accurate predictor of malignancy than either alone.1 Instructions Fasting is not required for this test. Take all medications as prescribed. Note HE4 should not be used for monitoring women with mucinous or germ cell ovarian cancer and should not be used for cancer screening. References
